| Accomplishments:
- Instrumental in creation of the South Shore Roundtable, an entity responsible for development
of the plan to build the first satellite government services center in Hillsborough County.
- Resurrected the Ruskin Tomato Festival, now held annually on the
first weekend of May, to promote the agricultural heritage of the area.
- Developed the plan for the re-landscaping of the medians along US41 through Ruskin,
a dream that has been difficult to realize through the years.
- Encouraged and helped secure funds for the restoration of Marsh Creek, an ecologically significant,
oligohaline waterway through downtown Ruskin.
- Construction of a boardwalk in Commongood Park within the Ruskin Inlet.
- Established, in partnership with Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation, an
educational/ eco-tourism destination- the Camp Bayou Outdoor Learning Center,
where visitors can learn about the flora and fauna of Florida- from its Paleo past to the
ecological treasures of the present. Check out the video.
